Manchester United owners the Glazers have a new reason to sell the club after Boro defeat

MANCHESTER UNITED owners the Glazers were thrust in the spotlight during the club's defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday.

As Manchester United’s match with Middlesbrough played out, an announcement inside Old Trafford was made. No food and no drinks were available for sale and that led to supporters, inevitably, calling for the Glazers to go. With the club lurching from one crisis to another, the defeat to Chris Wilder’s side on Friday night gives the Americans yet another reason to walk away.

Manchester United have never been worse in the modern era.

They did struggle many years ago, even being relegated at one point, but Sir Alex Ferguson managed to re-awaken a sleeping giant and dominate English football for the best part of two decades.

Ever since the Scot walked away in 2013, however, the Red Devils have fallen apart.

They were poor under David Moyes yet there was a sense not all of the problems were on the Scot. Significant investment was needed.

Jose Mourinho won two trophies in the EFL Cup and Europa League but, like a Dementor from Harry Potter, drained the positivity of players in his squad prior to losing his job in December 2018.
